A wide range of educational opportunities from pre-school to non-credit courses for seniors can be found in Ainsworth.

Head Start is a national program that promotes school readiness by enhancing the social and cognitive development of children through the provision of educational, health, nutritional, social and other services to enrolled children and families.
Ainsworth Community Schools identifies itself as a Nebraska “Class III district in Brown County, encompassing 550 square miles. Our 500 K-12 students are educated in a K-4 Elementary, a 5-8 Middle School, and a 9-l2 High School. The district utilizes newly remodeled school facilities, climate controlled classrooms, technology and electronic assessment to focus on student achievement.” For more information

The Ainsworth Public Library, located on 5th and Main Street, was completed in March of 1980. The library contains well over 23,500 volumes including 50 magazines, newspapers, video tapes and cassette books and has an average annual circulation of 46,234. Services include video teleconferencing, book mobile services, GED classes, story hour, and many other benefits. Please call (402) 387-2032 for more information.
Northeast Community College from Norfolk, NE. offers classes in Ainsworth through a variety of means. Regular Credit and non-credit Classes are taught by visiting instructors as well as part time local instructors. Classes may also be accessed on-line, or through interactive video conferencing facilities located at Ainsworth High School and Education Service Unit #17 technology center. Nursing classes are taught at the Ainsworth Care facility. Adult Basic Education and GED classroom in the Ainsworth Public Library is sponsored by Northeast Community. Call Barbara Strand at (402) 387-0967 to learn more about these opportunities. Classes are held on request. English as a 2nd language classes have also been offered through the Northeast Community College Program.
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension Program is also very active in Brown, Keya Paha, and Rock Counties. They state “Our office brings you reliable, research-based information in agriculture and natural resources, consumer and family economics, community and economic development and 4-H/youth development.
